Mary did not want to consider a removable appliance such as dentures. She demonstrated a very sensitive gag reflex and the idea of having the roof of her mouth covered with a denture was not an option. Dr. Saleh planned several implants on the upper arch to be restored with a non -metal dental implant bridge across the entire arch. For the lower arch, dental implants were planned for the back segment and Emax crowns for the front segment.
Over time, due to the missing teeth, the bite had changed to an unfavorable position causing over-closure upon biting. The final restoration of implants was planned to restore the height of the bite back to the ideal position.
The surgical procedure appointment involved the removal of the teeth in question and placement of immediate implants on the entire upper arch and lower back teeth as well as bone grafting. For the most accurate placement of the implants in the optimum position, the surgery was planned utilizing computerized software where the surgery was performed on the 3D skull image of the CT scan and a corresponding surgical guide was utilized to copy the surgery from the software to real life.
After implant placement, Mary received a fixed temporary bridge on the upper arch as well as lower back teeth. The entire procedure was performed under IV sedation. Mary actively participated in the selection of the shape and shade of her teeth during a detailed consult with our local lab technicians.
The final restoration was fabricated six months later with zirconium (metal-free) framework with individual Emax crowns allowing Mary to floss between her teeth mimicking natural teeth.
We have seen Mary for several post- procure visits and she has reported that she is extremely happy with her teeth. The aesthetic and function of her jaw and teeth have been restored to normal. At Dental Dynamics, these types of restorations come with a five-year replacement warranty assuring the investment our patients make is backed with the quality that we promise.
