After a detailed evaluation and examination of her smile and the biomechanics of her bite, Emax dental veneers were planned for the front teeth and Emax porcelain crowns were planned for the back teeth. The procedure, including the preparation of teeth and delivery of customized temporary restorations, was completed in a single visit under IV sedation. After that, it took approximately 3-4 weeks for the final veneers to be fabricated by the lab technician. During this transitional period her teeth were covered by customized temporaries made by the dental lab with her selected shade of teeth. This allowed Jennifer to experience the shade for as long as a month before finalizing her decision regarding the final crowns and veneers.
Jennifer emphasized her desire to maintain the shape and roundness of her front teeth. We involve our cosmetic dental patients in every step of the process including the fabrication process.
As with every smile transformation procedure, Jennifer met with our lab technician for a thorough consult. She was presented with examples of teeth and smiles of several forms and shades to choose from. She elected to have a very light shade and round teeth similar to her original teeth. The above images show a full upper arch view. Note the detailed anatomy of the back molars and premolars as well as the shading. The ability to reproduce an accurate bite by the lab technician is enormously important to avoid any adjustments and loss of the detail of the anatomy. This is one of the reasons why we cannot compromise when it comes to perfection and why Portland cosmetic dental patients choose us first once they do their homework.
After the fabrication process was completed, Jennifer came in to try-in the crowns and veneers. During this appointment x-rays were taken to examine the internal fit. The aesthetics, form and the shade are all examined by both Dr. Saleh and the patient under different conditions of light. Smile and rest position of the lips is also evaluated. The bite biomechanics are checked meticulously. When everything passes, the veneers and crowns are placed on permanently. The net result is a beautiful healthy smile and a very confident and happy patient.
